I chose to do a series about natural disasters that have devastated a land, and have given grief and economic hardship to thousands of Hurricane Katrina and Wilma victims. My paintings and portraits don’t even cover a percentage of the chaos Katrina and Wilma induced. Being from the south and having visited New Orleans, I felt immediate heartache. I, like many, have enjoyed the culture that Louisiana has offered to many civilizations worldwide. I want my paintings to shed light and evoke others to appreciate the little things we have, and never take anything for granted.
